Home News & Events Adult dance and fitness classes for all ages and abilities
Since the launch of our adult dance and fitness classes back in the Spring of 2021, our timetable has grown to meet the increasing demand for new adult classes! We offer several dance and fitness genres, and in 2023 we are branching out to include more workshops, which will introduce a diverse range of dance styles.
Barre Fitness is a great all-round conditioning class that combines Ballet, Yoga, and Pilates. Our expert teacher April will guide you through a warmup before moving on to lower body strengthening, upper body work, core strengthening, and finally a well-deserved cooldown and stretch.
Barre fitness not only strengthens but lengthens the muscles. It sculpts lean lines and a strong body. All abilities and ages are welcome. In 2023, April will also be adding an extra sensual element with an R&B music theme!
Timetable: Wednesdays
A class which aims to evenly strengthen the body, with particular emphasis on core strength to improve general fitness and well-being. Pilates is a method of physical movement designed to stretch, strengthen, and balance the body. Perfect for anyone who suffers from back pain or injury.
Our expert teacher, Lizzie Martin, is a future fit level 4 qualified Pilates instructor and level 3 personal trainer. She is also working towards CPD qualifications in lower back care as well as pre-natal and post-natal Pilates. If you are looking for a class to help with alignment, flexibility, strength, and coordination of the body then look no further! Suitable for all abilities as exercises can be adjusted to suit your individual needs.
Timetable: Thursday
Integration of varying styles, from funk to soul, and R&B music to jazz, resulted in the creation of a new genre. Covering a wide spectrum, it touches on strong jazz, improvisation, soul, funk, and disco. Adult jazz integrates all these styles to create an uplifting, high-energy, current, and creative dance class!
The teacher will also focus on technique and strengthening the body to help achieve the lines needed in such impressive choreography.
Timetable: Monday advanced/Tuesday intermediate/Wednesday beginner
Slightly less technical than pure jazz dance, Hip-hop is a fusion style which reflects the essence of the music. It is the modern street style you would see in a contemporary music video and on TV.
It includes a wide range of movement patterns: primarily breaking, popping, and locking. Born in the 1970s, these were made popular by dance crews in the United States.
Timetable: Monday advanced/Tuesday beginner/ Friday intermediate
Tap dancing is a very impressive style which exudes musicality. Not only is it included in many West End shows but it also helps improve your rhythm, timing, and coordination.
The class is suitable for beginners as well as those who already have some experience and are looking to improve their skills. Even if you don’t own tap shoes, hard-soled shoes will work just as well.
Timetable: Mondays – Mixed Ability
One of our newest offerings with Bella combines classical technique with modern dance. It’s an expressive way of moving the body to either the rhythm or the lyrics of the music, which conveys the inner emotion we hide away from the world.
Because lyrical or contemporary dance centres on individual expression of strong emotion, the style focuses less on the precision of the dancer’s movements.
Timetable: Tuesday Advanced
Ballet is a type of performance dance that originated in the Italian Renaissance courts of the 15th century and later developed into a concert dance form in France and Russia.
It has since become a widespread, highly technical form of dance with its own vocabulary based on French terminology. Our Ballet conditioning class is a combination of barre, centre, and stage work.
Timetable: Wednesday – mixed ability
Who doesn’t love a good musical? From Mamma Mia to Hamilton, Millie provides a new dance each week to an uplifting musical number. The class is suitable for advanced dancers with previous experience; whilst technique is a focus, so too is musicality.
You can learn to move your body in a different way according to the musical tone, telling a story as you perform. A fantastic opportunity for an energising workout, it is always a lot of fun too!
Timetable: Tuesday advanced
If Strictly Come Dancing inspires you, this is the class to attend! Either as an individual or with a partner. Where ballroom dancing is typically light, elegant, and romantic, Latin dance exudes fire, passion, and dynamics.
With Elena’s expertise guiding you, you will get to experiment with them all. It is also a great opportunity to socialise and connect with others, whilst providing the body with a good workout.
Timetable: Saturday – mixed ability
Our heels class is about gaining strength, technique, style, and confidence in a supportive environment. Every week, Millie will teach the basics of dancing in heels – walking, twirling, and transitioning to the ground from posture. This class is suited for a beginner or intermediate-level dancer.
At the end of every month, we hold a professional class with April. This involves challenging choreography and mature moves and is appropriate for advanced female and male dancers. All of our heels classes are open to 16+ years.
