Home Stage School
MPDA’s fantastic stage school will turn you into a triple threat by exploring and developing your singing and acting talents, combined with dance, to bring out the west-end star within you!
Our industry professionals provide excellent training in singing, dancing and acting to those aged 4-18. Depending on age, students will be split into Tinies, Mids and Teens to learn the techniques of all three disciplines and how to put them together in performance. All ages will have the opportunity to take part in annual shows and other performance opportunities.
The Tinies will focus on learning basic skills and building confidence through carefully planned activities and games. The Mids expand on these skills to gain a more well-rounded skill set through doing script work and building their overall repertoire. The Teens work on advanced skills that enable them to become versatile and confident performers.
The dance aspect of the stage school takes it back to basics. Not only will we focus on choreography, but also combining movement and techniques from different styles of musicals. We will study the greats and how they can influence our performances today.
Singing training is one of the highlights of the stage school. We will focus on breathing and voice techniques alongside a range of musical styles to get to know your voice and how to harmonise as a group.
From improvisation to comedy to script work, we will look at the different acting techniques to shape our pupils into believable, confident and versatile actors. They will also be given the opportunity to write their own scenes in groups- just one of the creative tasks we have in store in the stage school.
At the end of each year, we hold a musical whereby all students from the Stage School will get involved to showcase what they have been working on throughout the term. This is a chance to see the confident, bright stars we have the pleasure to work with.
