Adelaide Pitcock is a bilingual artist and academic, who most recently danced with the National Ballet of the Dominican Republic and taught at the National School of the Arts in Santo Domingo. She is a current postgraduate student at The University of Oxford, holding two Honors Bachelor’s degrees from the United States in Ballet and English. and has national and international performing and teaching experience. She is an experienced dance teacher across a variety of disciplines, including teaching and working with the RAD syllabus, as well as Vaganova, Cecchetti, and Cuban techniques, while also holding a certification for the American Ballet Theatre technique through all levels. She also holds pilates, yoga, and progressing ballet technique (PBT) certifications, including these body mindfulness practices in her teaching.
During her time with the National Ballet, she notably performed in Annabelle Lopez Ochoa’s ‘Agua Viva,’ a work specifically made for the company, a collaboration with Ballet Concierto Dominicano of Carlos Vietia’s ‘The Nutcracker,’ the National Ballet of Cuba’s ‘Majisimo.’ She also taught ballet, jazz, and contemporary disciplines both at the National School of the Arts (ENDANZA), and the adjoining ballet school and company, Ballet Concierto Dominicano. During her time in the Dominican Republic, she also worked on outreach initiatives, helped to organize and donate to ballet schools in the Dominican Republic in need of clothing, shoes, and funds in order to continue young artists’ training.
While working in Santo Domingo, Adelaide was also earning two bachelor’s degrees with the University of Utah, graduating at the top of her class with honors and as a member of the International English Honors Society. During her physical time at the University of Utah, she received numerous grants and awards for both her artistic and academic accomplishments. In 2023, she was awarded a College of Fine Arts grant to compete at the International Puerto Rico Classical Dance Competition in San Juan, where she was awarded the Nuestro Futuro en Danza award, placing first overall in the pas de deux category, and performing in the Nuestro Futuro en Danza Gala alongside artists from American Ballet Theatre and Sarasota Ballet. She has also notably worked as a guest dancer and performer with Milwaukee Ballet, Oklahoma City Ballet, and Boston Ballet. At her university, she also worked with Healing in Motion dance, a group dedicated to teaching movement classes that drew upon neurological and vestibular physical therapy practices in which participants with neurodegenerative conditions could develop positive, joyous connections with movement.
Her goal is to inspire a love of dance and instill a lifelong appreciation of the arts in all of her students, nurturing creativity and artistic abilities while allowing room for self-discovery and confidence.
