Over the weekend of December 17th and 18th, hundreds of MPDA students aged 4-18 took part in our first Christmas showcase!
For the first time, our junior school and ballet school put on productions. Our tinies students presented Seussical; they not only danced but performed acrobatics and singing numbers choreographed by our incredible staff.
Meanwhile, our ballet students presented an enduring classic The Nutcracker. Other ballet compositions ranged from pre-primary age through to advanced solo performances. We also included multiple squad dance routines from our elite members of the academy.
MPDA management was so proud to present both productions. It was rewarding to show just how far we have come through our selection of additional classes – performing arts, high-quality ballet training, dance, and acrobatics.
Musical Theatre
CollectionOur senior school also took part in our Christmas Showcase. They presented a collection of dance, musical theatre and acrobatics pieces inspired by the music of great movies. All bases were covered with feel-good numbers from ‘Shark Tale’ and ‘Kung Fu Panda’ to intense and dramatic pieces from ‘James Bond’ and ‘Kill Bill’. Sentimental lyrical performances from ‘Romeo and Juliet’, ‘Anastasia’ and ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ contrasted these beautifully.
We were also thrilled to offer musical theatre performances from our performing arts schools. They blew the audience away with their numbers from Legally Blonde, Shrek and Matilda. After years without shows due to the pandemic, we think it’s fair to say that MPDA came back with a bang!

We wanted to finish this post with a special thank you to the Old Fire Station Oxford who hosted our production. They made sure everything ran smoothly from beginning to end.
We also want to express our gratitude to all the teachers and volunteers. This team didn’t solely choreograph the show but supervised the students during dress rehearsals and the show weekend, giving up their time.
To the parents: thank you for your dedication and heartfelt support of MPDA. And last but by no means least, we want to thank our incredible students, of whom we are so proud!
