Welcome to the June MPDA newsletter! We hope that you are having a lovely Half term break so far. Our Summer calendar is jam packed with events! We have our Leaver’s showcase taking place this Saturday and we can’t wait to see all of our teen students shining on stage. We also have our in-house show at the start of July, before the exciting launch of our Summer camp season in August! Please see all of the details below, along with some fantastic news stories we can’t wait to share with you……

Stay and Play Event!

TOMORROW!

For ages 0-4, we will be holding our first Early years event at the MPDA studios! Complete with soft play equipment, a bouncy castle, arts and crafts stations, and refreshments for all attendees. We only have a couple of spaces left so please click below to reserve your child’s spot! It’s just £10 per child and adults go free.

Early Years Classes

A reminder that we now have a range of exciting classes for ages 0-2.

Please contact the office to book in for a free trial. You can then either enrol for the remainder of the term, or you can buy a class pass which allows a more flexible ‘pay as you attend’ option!

SUMMER DANCE CAMPS!

Your child will learn a range of dance styles such as jazz, ballet, tap, contemporary and acro at our very own, purpose-built studios! At the end of the camp, students will put on a short performance for parents which will be recorded for you to keep! Suitable for ALL abilities! Non MPDA members also welcome so why not bring a friend along?

Musical Theatre Camp: The Lion KIng!

The perfect holiday fun for all musical theatre lovers! We will be putting on a musical in just 5 days ready to perform to parents at the end of the week! Suitable for ages 4-18 years. Our expert singing, acting and dance teachers will guide you through the process and ensure that the week is one to remember. This year’s theme will be the Lion KIng- a fantastic musical loved by all.

7th-11th August 2023

Advanced Dance Camp

This is an intensive dance course for those who are at an intermediate/advanced level. Perfect for any students who strive to improve their technique and hope to enter the dance industry! Students will receive training from the very best guest teachers as well as MPDA staff, covering all dance genres. Open to those who are aged 14 and over, we are opening the camp up to both MPDA and non MPDA members. A chance to experience unique choreography, you’ll be able to push yourself to the limits, achieving more than you ever could have imagined!

21st-25th August: 9.30am-3.30pm

Bring a Friend deal: Still running!

Due to the success of this offer across the Spring, we have decided to re-introduce our bring a friend deal for the remainder of the Summer term! If your Child brings a friend to trial a class, you will receive an instant refund for 1 session. Then, if that friend enrols for the rest of the term, you will receive 25% OFF next term’s fees! (For one class). This could be a huge saving of up to £47!

Lola Barbour

Our MPDA ambassador Lola has received offers from multiple dance colleges, and after much thought, she has decided to accept a place at the prestigious Wilkes Academy! Wilkes is renowned for exceptional dance training and she will be heading to the incredible dance college in September. All of that hard work has paid off and we know that Lola has a very bright future ahead! We knew that from day one! We couldn’t be more proud.

Josie Whale

After years of dedication and commitment to her training, Josie has been accepted into numerous dance colleges such as Performers and Stella Mann! Wherever Josie decides to go, she will get first class training in dance, singing and acting. This will set her up for great success in the performance industry. We are thrilled for Josie. What fantastic news after weeks of nail-biting auditions! It’s set to be an exciting few years ahead.

The competition team season has come to an end. We absolutely swept the floor at the conventions, with MPDA winning GOLD MEDALS multiple times. Here is a list of our successess:

Xcite Dance Competition: 1st for Jazz & Contemporary

Lola Barbour – Top 10 improv challenge
Destination Dance Competition / 1st for Jazz & Lyrical (scored for international finals)
Supreme Dance Competition / 1st for Lyrical & 2nd for Jazz and awarded overall technique award for the competition.

Lola Barbour – Scholarship to Bird College’s summer school
Destination Dance International Finals: Awarded platinum for both numbers.
Take the Stage Dance Competition :1st for Jazz and Contemporary. Awarded Scored 3rd highest overall.

Miss April was the won the award for best choreography.
Lola Barbour Winner of the Knockout Musical Theatre Workshop (Winning a scholarship to Aaron Dwyer’s intensive). Giulia Baiz won 2nd place.

Miss April will be emaling all customers at the start of June with information about our up and coming Competition team auditions! These will be taking place on Sunday 9th July. Please keep an eye on your inbox.

BREAK A LEG!

To our RAD Ballet students

We wish our RAD Ballet students lots of luck for their exams this weekend! Some of our Primary class and Grade 1 students will be taking their examination on Sunday the 4th June. Miss Emma has been working very hard with the children to ensure that the students are well prepared. No doubt we’ll get some wonderful results and above all, we hope it’s a brilliant experience!
