Welcome to the August newsletter! We hope that you are enjoying the Summer holidays so far, and this edition will provide you with plenty of exciting updates.

Please read through to find out more about Autumn term bookings, our updated timetable, plus, you can still book your child in for one of our exciting Summer camps!

LOOKING FORWARD….

MPDA AUTUMN TIMETABLE

BOOKING FOR THE AUTUMN IS NOW OPEN! Please remember, you MUST login to your MPDA account and book your child’s classes in advance. Spaces are secured on a first come first served basis. Booking opened on the 17th July and so classes are already filling. Please don’t delay!

Remember, we are now offering class BUNDLES which will save you money!

Buy the term for one class and the second class will be the equivalent of £5 per session for the entire Autumn! You can just select the drop down add on option at the checkout. The offer is valid on the following sets of classes:

NEW BABY MUSICAL THEATRE! Starting Saturday 9th September:

We are holding a FREE BABY MUSICAL THEATRE TASTER CLASS on Thursday the 10th August from 12.45pm-1.15pm! This gives you a chance to see what the class is about and we’d love to welcome your little one if they are between the ages of 2-3. Please email ASAP to book in for the taster day.

SINGING LESSONS

Miss Katelyn will be offering weekly 1-1 private singing lesson slots at the following times:

Wednesdays 4.30pm-5pm
Thursdays 6pm-6.30pm

(Hopefully more slots will be added if we acquire a waiting list)

HOWEVER, Miss Katelyn will also be offering some 1-1 lesson times over the Summer Holidays. Please email the office if you’d like to book a 30 minute singing lesson on either MONDAY 14TH AUGUST (Slots available from 5pm) or TUESDAY 29TH AUGUST (From 4pm). (£20 for 30 minutes).

BRING YOUR DAD TO DANCE WEEK!

For a small gold coin donation, you can bring your Dad, Grandad, Uncle, or any male role model along to class between Sept 11th-17th! A feel good event which will promote inclusivity and inspire lots of fun! So start convincing your Dads now- we hope to see them there!

Thursday Acro- new venue!

From September, our Thursday acro gymnastics classes will be moving to Edward Feild Primary School in Kidlington. This venue provides ample space, freeing up our studios for more dance classes!

The fantastic Mr Alex is back to run the sessions and we are so excited for his return! Alex was loved by so many here at MPDA and he proved hugely popular with the students. Not only does Alex offer charisma and a great set of coaching techniques, but he has been teaching gymnastics for over 16 years. We are so pleased that Alex is able to return to the team!

Summer Dance Camp

Your child will learn a range of dance styles such as jazz, ballet, tap, contemporary and acro at our very own, purpose-built studios! At the end of the camp, students will put on a short performance for parents which will be recorded for you to keep! Suitable for ALL abilities! Non MPDA members also welcome so why not bring a friend along?

DANCE CAMP: 14th-18th August

Main Camp (ages 7-18) £220. 9.30am- 3.30pm

Tinies camp (Age 3-6) £120 9.30am-12.30pm

Musical Theatre Camp: The Lion KIng!

The perfect holiday fun for all musical theatre lovers! We will be putting on a musical in just 5 days ready to perform to parents at the end of the week. Suitable for ages 4-18 years. Our expert singing, acting and dance teachers will guide you through the process and ensure that the week is one to remember. This year’s theme will be the Lion KIng- a fantastic musical loved by all.

7th-11th August 2023

TINIES (4-8 years) 9.30am-12.30pm Mon-Thu and 12.30pm-3.30pm on Fri £120

MAIN (8-18 years) 9.30am-3.30pm Mon-Fri £220

Advanced Dance Camp

This is an intensive dance course for those who are at an intermediate/advanced level. Perfect for any students who strive to improve their technique and hope to enter the dance industry! Students will receive training from the very best guest teachers as well as MPDA staff, covering all dance genres. Open to those who are aged 14 and over, we are opening the camp up to both MPDA and non MPDA members. A chance to experience unique choreography, you’ll be able to push yourself to the limits, achieving more than you ever could have imagined!

21st-25th August: 9.30am-3.30pm

Ages 14 and over: £230

If you missed our first round of comp team auditions, please don’t panic! We will be holding a ‘late audition’ on the 24th August. The entry for this audition is £10. Please email Miss April if you need to sign up for this date. We will just need your child’s name and DOB and your child must be aged 14 or over to try out. Good luck !

August Stay and Play Event

After the success of our last Stay and play event, we will be offering round two on Saturday 26th August! For ages 0-4, your little one can come and play amongst our wonderful soft play equipment, bounce on a bouncy castle, have fun at our arts and crafts stations, and there will be refreshments for all attendees. Spaces are limited so please book promptly, especially as we sold out last event

Dance classes for Wolvercote Primary Students

Specifically for students at Wolvercote Primary School, Miss Bethany will be running after school dance classes for years 1-6 every Tuesday at St Peter’s Church! If your child attends the school and would like to enrol, please contact the office to save their spot. Places are limited.

Looking back on July….

IN-HOUSE SHOW SUCCESS!

What a wonderful week we had! Studio 2 was transformed into a performance area for all of our parents and supporters to be viewing audience members. Our students had a fantastic time showing off what they have learnt over the past term in their costumes and with lighting. We hope that they enjoyed the performance opportunity, and no doubt you were proud to see your child shining on stage! We are so proud.

Well done Sima and Josie!

Sima and Josie took their ISTD Intermediate modern exam and they both attained a Merit! This is a brilliant achievement, especially as the qualification gains UCAS points which can be used towards University entry. Miss Emily runs Intermediate modern classes every Wednesday. It’s well worth pursuing as the ISTD along with the RAD is an internationally respected federation. Well done girls!

Congrats RAD Candidates!

The lovely Miss Emma has been working very hard with her RAD Ballet students . Our most recent entries have come out with some fantastic results!

Clara, Amelia, Athena and Nicole all achieved their RAD certificates which means that they can progress to the next grade in September. Well done girls for being so committed and doing MPDA proud!
